We spent the last couple of days of this term celebrating Diwali. We were given a box of delicious homemade Diwali treats from one of our families. The children enjoyed using coloured rice and chalk to create Rangoli patterns, all having their own creative ideas of how to use the available resources. We lit candles and learnt about Diwali at story time, watching the story of Rama and Sita. Divas were made of salt dough – the children set the timer on the microwave to cook their creations before decorating them with paint and glitter.
We also said a sad farewell to Jodi and send her all our best wishes for the future. We’ll miss you Jodi!
It has been a busy start to the new term. We have welcomed returning children to nursery and have been getting to know new friends as we all settle into nursery life. The construction of our extension continues and has been of great interest to the children. They have been watching the builders at work out of the window, asking questions and engaging in role-play. There has been lots of cooperative play, building together and cries of ‘We’re building, like the builders.’ The children are already demonstrating their resilience – when towers are knocked down, we’ve heard ‘It’s OK, I can build it again.’ We have built, dug, measured, planned and problem solved together. We thank you for your patience whilst we wait for the building works to be complete.
