We ended this term with Christmas parties and sing-a-longs. We had party games including pass the parcel and musical statues. We enjoyed party food, balloons, dancing and a visit from Father Christmas. The children have sung their hearts out all week and it was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and families come to watch the sing-a-longs. We were very proud of each and every one of the children. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your cards, kind words and generous gifts, we are extremely grateful to you all. Merry Christmas, with love from all the staff at Hampden Way! xxx
We have had a lovely week, wrapping presents and making Christmas decorations. There was a team effort creating our beautiful Christmas tree out of boxes. We painted, added glitter, ribbons and even made holes in it to add branches so we could hang lights and baubles. There is now a cosy fireplace in our home corner, which has sparked lots of role play and sleigh building. The children were so engaged as they mixed ingredients together to make slime, we heard so much wonderful descriptive language. Snowmen have been made from sparkly play dough and we saw lots of mark making in the frost outside. Next week we are looking forward to our Christmas party on Thursday and our Christmas sing-along on Friday - 10.45am and 2.45pm. See you there!
And so the Christmas countdown begins! The glitter and sparkles are out and the children have wrapped presents, created decorations and painted boxes for our snow cave. There has been lots of mark making - writing labels, lists and letters to Santa. We have thought about the wildlife as the weather gets colder, with the children making bird feeders to hang around the garden. There was also lots of interest in our new small tyres - rolling them down ramps, adjusting the height to make them roll faster with the children using their legs to create tunnels.
Rainbow room have been busy creating salt dough Christmas decorations and making pizza. We would like to say a big thank you to Philip, one of our lovely parents who came in to talk the children about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
We ended Friday afternoon toasting marshmallows on the fire, followed by a wonderful sing a long. A big thank you to Melis, another one of our lovely parents who came in and played the ukulele while all the children sang along. It was so much fun!
The children were very excited to decorate our Christmas tree and we would like to thank all of you for your kind donations of decorations and items for our Christmas fair, which will be taking place at St Margaret’s nursery next Friday, 14th December, 3-5pm. Hope to see you there!
