A small act of kindness in the garden led onto a few days of engaging in some wonderful hospital role-play. It started outdoors with beds made of blocks and moved inside with hospital notes being written, legs being bandaged and lots of great language. This ended up tying in with some play that had started indoors, which had stemmed from a child and their toy spider. A web was constructed using tape. This play continued, with the web developing daily, visited by different groups of children working together, talking to each other, planning and problem solving. They persisted when they couldn’t find the end of the tape and maintained focus whilst also showing high levels of energy and fascination. Everywhere we looked things were being ‘taped,’ particularly arms and legs as our ‘doctors’ set about making us all better. As the temperature dropped this week, we also enjoyed some hot chocolate in the garden to help keep us warm.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the families who contributed in raising money for Children in Need and also for all your kind words and support during our Ofsted inspection this week.
