This week the children’s fascination with snails has continued. We brought some inside to have a closer look at, using lots of descriptive language and using iPads to discover new facts. We are beginning to notice signs of spring, looking at blossom and exploring different painting techniques such as printing and blowing the paint through straws. The blossom also inspired lots of children to create their own drawings of flowers, with children bringing in petals and flowers they had found on their way to nursery. The children have loved the shop role play area, buying their food, exchanging money and taking it home to ‘put in the fridge.’
We had a visit from Kim Lambden, who is giving us lots of ideas for fun physical activities inside and out. The children ran through scarves and wrapped themselves up in them. They were horses, using the scarves as reigns. We used blocks and worked out lots of different ways to balance on them to encourage weight bearing activities, we pulled each other along mats using hoops and stretched Lycra, using our muscles to make it as big as we could.

Along the same theme, we also had our sponsored Huff & Puff sessions. We all took part: running; jumping; stepping; dancing and using the large parachute. There was lots of enthusiasm and excitement as we raised our heart rates and got our bodies moving. Thank you all for your kind donations to this event, if you are yet to do so, please hand your donations in to the office.
We ended the week with a visit from one of our brilliantly brave parents, who came in to share her experience with the children of running the London Marathon. They loved hearing all about it, trying on the medal and particularly what happens to your feet after a 26 mile run! If you would like more information on Denise’s brave marathon journey or to donate, please visit her Just Giving page. Well done Denise, truly inspirational! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/denise-colbert1
