Wow, what a busy week! It was so hard to choose what to share that there is a bumper crop of photos to show what we’ve been up to. The week started with boys in the garden, having their own idea to make a river. They shared ideas, worked together and problem solved as they dug trenches, built bridges and experimented with different volumes of water in their river.
The children had also been enjoying the story of ‘Rainbow Fish’ so we provided real fish to explore. They looked closely at the scales and fins, weighed them and fed them. There was shopping and a burger café in the garden, water play, blowing snow bubbles and even a trip to the shop to buy some hot chocolate which was made on the fire. The children really listened and were brilliant at following the ‘fire rules.’
In Rainbow room there has been painting, creations in the mud kitchen, sharing books and enjoying the story ‘Owl Babies.’ They have been exploring the sensory experience of ‘cloud dough’ feeding dinosaurs and role playing in the home corner.
The week ended on the first day of December with the construction of the most magnificent Christmas tree I’ve ever seen. The boxes were piled, the love of tape continued and began to hold it all together. Over the morning every child visited, adding their own little piece to make it a truly collaborative tree. We heard countless cries of ‘I need scissors’, ‘I need tape,’ as they carefully balanced on chairs to reach the top and found a variety of things to add to the tree. It is beautiful. The countdown to Christmas has officially begun.
